Stingray Chaser

Free stingrays and remove harmful algae from the ocean. After removing enough debris from the stingrays, you will be asked to select the correct answer to continue.

Science Chapter 8-1

  • mountain -- landform high above the land around it. Some form when blocks of rock are pushed up or drop down along cracks in the Earth's crust.
  • coast -- land next to the ocean, which helps to shape the coastline.
  • ocean -- the salt water that covers almost three-fourths of Earth's surface.
  • core -- the innermost layer of Earth. It is made of metal.
  • volcano -- an opening in Earth's crust through which hot, melted rock is forced up by pressure inside the Earth.
  • plain -- large, mostly flat area.
  • lake -- forms when the flow of water slows enough to fill an area
  • mantle -- the middle layer of the Earth. This is made of igneous and metamorphic rock.
  • plateau -- a plain that is higher the the land around it.
  • hill -- a high place on the Earth's surface, but not as high as a mountain. Hills often have rounded tops.
  • river -- a natural stream of water that helps to shape the valley or plain it passes through
  • glacier -- large, moving body of ice. It forms in cold places where snow and ice pile up year after year. It slowly moves downhill.
  • crust -- the outermost layer of Earth. The layer we live on.
  • valley -- low, narrow area on the crust. Some are formed by rivers, others are formed by galciers.

Science: Sky Patterns

  • rotation -- one complete spin on an axis
  • lunar eclipse -- Earth's shadow moving across the Moon
  • season -- one of the four divisions of the year; spring, summer, fall or winter
  • orbit -- the path of any object in space that revolves around another object in space
  • axis -- an imaginary line around which Earth spins
  • phase -- a stage in developement; the appearance of the moon at a given time
  • constellation -- a group of stars that make a pattern
  • sun -- our star; a huge ball of hot glowing gases.
  • star -- a massive ball of hot gases that produces its own light
  • revolution -- one complete trip around a center (Sun)
  • telescope -- a tool that gathers lots of light and magnifies objects that are far away and makes faint stars easier to see
  • shadow -- the dark shade of an object projected on a surface
